Not sure how a stake in Swiss Re or argument that SoftBank is muscling in on deals and has voiced concerns that it’s ladling out more money than startups need or can absorb, pushing valuations too high.creates unease, but anyway I think the growth investors are likely put more at unease than the VC community
The venture capital community has been fretting about the impact SoftBank Group Corp.’s giant tech fund has on deal prices. The Japanese company says be grateful. SoftBank has been aggressive in targeting the insurance industry, investing $120 million in the home and renters' insurtech Lemonade in late 2017. Bloomberg reported earlier this year that SoftBank was in talks to buy as much of a third of the reinsurer Swiss Re in a transaction that could be valued at more than $10 billion. The reinsurer at the time confirmed the talks and said they were at a very early stage.
