The Rise and Fall of the Unicorn! Nice article of the unicorn problem!
A major investor I very highly regard put his finger on it the other day, when he said to me that "too many companies spent $300-500M getting to an annual revenue of $30-40M, with slow growth from there". Growth at any cost, but didn't deliver an actual real business. Be smart out there this year. It's about fundamentals again. Especially about the ability of your tech and product to beat the competition. It's not about founders who are really good at raising capital and spending it on marketing to gain users that ultimately don't hang around using an inferior product. In your pitches, talk about your tech, how it will be actually useful, and focus on developing real tech that can be validated by external parties - ie be DeepMind not Theranos.
