(Photo by David Paul Morris/Bloomberg) It’s not really alternative lending anymore when JPMorgan Chase, the biggest bank in the country, and On Deck Capital, a major marketplace lender, team up on small business lending. Their collaboration is set to launch in 2016 for the small-dollar loans that are the lifeblood of small businesses and a difficult area for banks. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon first disclosed the plans in a panel discussion in Washington, D.C., as reported by Bloomberg, noting that the venture would allow the bank to do “the kind of stuff we don’t want to do or can’t do.”
